Chip founded Rosewood Capital in 1985. Prior to the formation of Rosewood, he was a Partner with Smith Barney's venture capital division, First Century Partners. He began his career at Bain & Company, where he focused on the Consumer Products and Services sectors. At Bain, Chip was one of the founders of Fanueil Investments, the predecessor to Bain Capital.

Chip earned his B.A. from Princeton University and his M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Chip currently serves on the Board of Under Armour. He was previously on the Board of Directors of Gateway Learning Corporation (Hooked on Phonics®), Fresh Choice Restaurants, Noah's Bagels, Jamba Juice and Windmill Holdings (Country Hearth Breads).
